PSHE including RHE
Vision and Rational
Personal, Social, Health and Economic (PSHE) education enables children to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to manage their lives, now and in the future which includes Relationships and Health Education (RHE). Our aim is to provide both explicit and implicit learning opportunities and experiences which reflect children’s increasing independence and physical and social awareness.
Our curriculum helps children to stay healthy and safe, while preparing them to make the most of life in school and outside of school. The wellbeing of children at Tetherdown is extremely important to us and, so we provide a curriculum with a strong emphasis on developing effective relationships, assuming greater personal responsibility and strategies for managing personal safety, including online. Our curriculum supported by the “Jigsaw” scheme of work introduces them to a wider world and enables them to make an active contribution to their school and the wider and global community.
Pupil Voice is important to our children and, they engage with class discussions, as well as cross-school discussions as part of our MAGICs (Mixed Age Group Assemblies in Class). Children develop a wider understanding of the main political and social institutions that affect their lives and about their responsibilities, rights and duties as individuals and members of their community. They learn to understand and respect common humanity, diversity and difference so that they can go on to form effective, fulfilling relationships that are an essential part of life and learning.
