Tetherdown U9 and U11 take part in the National Primary Schools Chess Championships Zonal Qualifier
Tetherdown U9 and U11 chess teams did amazingly well in this month's National Primary Schools Chess Championships Zonal Qualifier.
The school's U9 and U11 chess teams did amazingly well in the National Primary Schools Chess Championship Zonal Qualifier held earlier this month at Bishop Douglass School in East Finchley.
There were two U9 and two U11 Tetherdown chess teams competing, involving 22 Yr3, Yr4, Yr5 and Yr6 children.
The U9 Yr3, U9 Yr4 and U11 Yr5 teams qualified for the next Semi-Final stage. Unfortunately, the U11 Yr6 team narrowly missed out.
The children played five matches against teams from Alma, Etz Chaim, Merchant Taylors Prep, Rhodes Avenue and The Hall. All together, a very impressive effort by all the children.
Some of the stronger chess schools were taking part in this Zonal Qualifier and all the children should be really proud of their achievement.
