Exciting Developments in Maths Mastery at Tetherdown
At Tetherdown, we believe in fostering deep, fluent and sustainable learning in mathematics.
We are thrilled to announce our ongoing commitment to enhancing maths education through the development of our teaching for Maths Mastery. At Tetherdown, we believe in fostering deep, fluent and sustainable learning in mathematics. Maths Mastery empowers students to build on concepts they've already mastered, reason effectively about mathematical ideas and make meaningful connections between them.
We are now in our second year of participating in the Maths Mastery for EYFS and KS1 project, a programme developed by the National Centre for Excellence in the Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) and accredited by Ofsted. This programme complements our daily maths lessons, offering our youngest learners in EYFS and KS1 practical, concrete-based learning experiences that make maths both accessible and engaging.
The results have been nothing short of phenomenal. Our teachers have observed significant improvements in children’s mathematical understanding, with the programme effectively bridging gaps and extending students' mathematical thinking.
Additionally, we are excited to join the Maths Mastery Work Group, a network of support that provides regular, invaluable training for our teachers. This involvement will enable us to continue adopting new and improved methods for explaining and modelling mathematical concepts ensuring our students receive the best possible education in maths.
We look forward to seeing even more progress as we continue our journey in Maths Mastery!
