Year 4 Jaguars Welsh Harp Trip
They loved exploring micro-habitats such as a pond, under a log or in a tree to find minibeasts
Year 4 Jaguars had a glorious day out at the Welsh Harp Environmental Education Centre where they partook in some outdoor science. They loved exploring micro-habitats such as a pond, under a log or in a tree to find minibeasts. And once they had caught some creatures, they practised using classification keys to identify and name them! Some unusual animals they found in the ponds were phantom midge larva, also known as glass-worms because they are transparent and water boatmen, which are aquatic insects with powerful oar-like, hairy hind legs! With support, we ensured we treated the animals we had a closer look at with care and respect, and safely returned them to their homes.
