Year 5 - Walton on the Naze
Everyone had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their successful field trip.
On Friday 24th June, Year 5 had an enjoyable trip to Walton on the Naze. Everyone arrived pumped ready for their journey, even though they had to wake up early in order to leave school by 7:10 am.
When they arrived, everyone raced out of the coach with excitement and found their group. In the first group, the children explored the Naze Tower’s eight floors, including the museum and 360 panoramic views at the top. In the tower, the children saw fossilised megalodon teeth, mammoth bones and used OS maps to identify human and physical features of the Naze. The next group went to a workshop where they learnt about Walton on the Naze’s history, including the lost city, pill boxes and the 1.2 million coastal defence (The Crag walk). After this, the children explored the Fossil Beach where they were on the hunt for fossilised shark teeth and shells. Spencer and Teadora were the most successful finding a couple of fossilised shells each!
After their exciting morning, Y5 retreated to the beach to eat their lunch, build sandcastles and paddle in the water. Everyone had a wonderful time and thoroughly enjoyed their successful field trip.
