Opal Loose Parts Collection

OPAL loose parts collection drive for creative, child-led play and learning

We are having a loose parts drive to support the Outdoor Play and Learning (OPAL) Primary Programme at our school! Through the programme, we are working to improve outdoor play at our school by offering more opportunities for creative, child-led play and learning. Loose parts are open-ended materials that our students can use during outdoor playtimes.

This collection drive will be focussed on collecting the following items:

  • Chalk (the chunky, heavy-duty kind!)
  • Liquid dish soap (e.g. fairy liquid)
  • Brooms
  • Delivery crates / milk crates (e.g. the ones that your online food shop gets delivered in!)
  • Mud/soil
  • Old kitchen utensils

*Please avoid glass, ceramics, or other easily broken objects

There is now a trolley outside the entrance to the school office labelled 'Donations for OPAL' where you can start dropping your items in. If they are too big for the trolley, next to or beside the trolley is also a good place to leave items. Alternatively, they can be handed to Mrs Capone.

If you are able to, or you know anyone who can, donate many plastic boxes/crates/pallets, please contact Mrs Capone at: ccapone@tetherdownschool.org

Thank you for your continued support of our OPAL Primary Programme. We look forward to sharing more of what we have been getting up to at playtimes very soon!
