Olympian Gymnast Inspires Students

Tetherdown welcome Nile Wilson, a former British Gymnast and Olympian.

On Monday 17th June 2024, we welcomed Nile Wilson, a former British Gymnast. He won an Olympic bronze medal and was the first British gymnast to win in the men’s horizontal bar at the Rio Olympics in 2016.

He delivered an inspiring assembly on what it takes to become an Olympian and achieve a dream and a medal. Nile shared his journey, highlighting the dedication, perseverance, and resilience required to reach the pinnacle in his gymnastics career.

He spoke passionately about the rigorous training schedules, the importance of mental toughness, and the support systems that play a crucial role in an athlete's success.

Our students were captivated by not only Nile's stories of triumph and challenge, but the performance he gave us- including his backflip over Ms Ashraf. It was a truly memorable and enriching experience for everyone in attendance.
